Savor aromas of raspberry coulis, briar and black currant as you swirl this beauty in your glass. The flavors are earthy and complex with raspberry fruit and hints of lemon verbena. The finish is bright and lingering. This is a vintage to enjoy over the next five years or more, although you’ll want to drink it all now.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This vintage is lighter, brighter and higher toned than years past, which is very exciting. The nose smells of raspberry coulis, briar and black currant. The palate is earthy and complex and has more raspberry fruit with hints of lemon verbena. The finish is bright and lingering. This is a vintage to savor over the next five years or more, although you’ll want to drink it all now.
Vineyard Notes
2019 was a very warm but beautiful vintage. Bud break was slightly delayed with cooler spring temperatures, which in turn delayed harvest by about two weeks on average. The additional hang time into fall allowed for a deep development of flavors in the finished wines.
Winemaker Notes
The Saini Vineyards Gene’s Block Zinfandel was harvested first thing in the morning by hand. The grapes were sorted once in the vineyard and once in the winery before being destemmed and left whole berry and put into an open-top tank. The grapes were cold soaked for 4 days to extract the maximum amount of flavor, then inoculated and fermented on the skins for 12 days. After being gently pressed off the skins, the wine was moved to a mixture of new and neutral French oak barrels where it completed malolactic fermentation and was racked just once in the 11 months before being bottled.
