Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Our 2022 Sparkling Syrah is a beautiful light pink but still bright in color. Aromatically there is intense and pure berry fruit notes that are so bright and so pretty. Some dark cherry notes with vanillin and slightly toasted blanched almonds really add to the aroma. The palate is lovely with bright fruit notes on the front with a long and lingering finish with good acidity carrying through.
Vineyard Notes
This fruit comes from the oldest block planted on our property, our Syrah. Planted by Mike and Vicky when they first bought the property in the year 2000, this block has a North-South row facing and is cordon pruned.

Winemaker Notes
2022 was another quite warm vintage. We had extremely low rainfall over the winter and spring, which caused for a very small crop. Some frost and hail hit us in April, which further reduced the crop. A very warm summer led to an early harvest as well. However, because of the incredibly low yield, flavors are heightened and absolutely delicious from this vintage. We picked our Syrah for sparkling in mid-August to retain bright acidity in the final wine. The grapes were hand harvested and then crushed and left to sit on the skins for about 4 hours. We then pressed off skins to a stainless steel tank for settling and then racked off to another tank for fermentation. The fermentation took about 18 days and was kept at a temperature of 58 degrees to allow all the aromatics to develop. After fermentation, the wine was settled and allowed to rest for a few months before being bottled with some yeast and a small amount of sugar. The wine went through secondary fermentation in bottle for 15 months before being disgorged. We chose not to add any dosage to this wine to allow the bright and fruity characters shine.
