This Clairette Blanche is such a fun wine! One of the traditional blending varietals used in Rhone blends, our version really holds up well all on its own. Delicate floral notes fill the glass. Very light aromas of melon and green apple complement the floral notes nicely. The palate is bright with great acidity and bold fruit.
2021 was a beautiful vintage. The winter was quite dry with far lower than average rainfalls but we had a few spring rains that helped us out. The growing season was warm but very even and without any adverse weather events.
Our Rancho Vecino Clairette Blanche was picked in the early morning hours and whole cluster pressed directly to stainless steel barrels. The wine fermented and aged in stainless for 10 months before being bottled.
This wine comes from a neighbor and a friend only a few miles from our property. Because it is on a different side of the valley, sun exposures are quite different from our estate and it can be up to 10 degrees warmer at Rancho Vecino on any given day. This really allows for rich intensity to develop in the clusters.
