Amista 2014 Chardonnay

Amista 2014 Chardonnay

Take me to current releases

Our 2014 Chardonnay starts out with aromas of white peach with hints of citrus, pear and green apple. On the palate, the fruit continues and is balanced by the creaminess from malolactic fermentation. The wine finishes with a bright acidity that is characteristic of our neutral oak Chardonnay. It pairs beautifully with oysters, seafood, and all citrus, but it is also very delicious just chilled and on its own.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
2014 was our third spectacular harvest in a row. The growing season was warm and without much rain during the winter. We had some late spring rains to bring up the water table. After two really large years, the crop size was back down to a lower level.
Winemaker Notes
We picked our Chardonnay grapes in the early morning hours and hand sorted in the vineyard first before bringing them to the winery and gently whole-cluster pressing. The juice settled for 24 hours in tank before going down to all neutral barrels, where, we used 4 different types of yeast. After fermentation, the barrels were topped up and put through malolactic fermentation. The wine was kept on the lees until a few weeks before bottling.
