2011 Amista Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Alta Presa

2011 Amista Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Alta Presa

Alta Presa Vineyards, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County

This is a Cabernet to lay down for a while!  The coolness of the vintage is immediately apparent on the nose, with pretty floral and dark tobacco notes working together.  On day two, the wine opens up to showcase more fruitiness.  The tannins are big and bold, with a beautiful acidity on the finish that lingers long after the final sip.  This wine should be ready to drink in 2-3 years and will pair well with the richest of dishes.

These grapes come from a stunning vineyard in the northwestern hills of Dry Creek Valley, high above the Warm Springs Dam that forms Lake Sonoma.  We call the vineyards Alta Presa, which means "high dam" in Spanish.
