Saini Farms, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County
What a difference one vintage makes! This wine still has the hints of licorice, white pepper and mint that we love from the 2011, but these characters are complemented by black cherry, blackberry and some earthiness. The riper year definitely brings out the fruitier side of this vineyard. On the palate, blackberry and cassis take the center stage, with subtle flavors of cardamom and clove. The delicate acidity is a nice foil to the intensity of flavors in this wine.
The grapes are grown in the red hillside soils just down the road from Amista. Saini Farms is owned and farmed by the 4th generation of this family in Dry Creek Valley.
