Amista Vineyards

Amista 2019 Mourvèdre

Amista 2019 Mourvèdre

Our 2019 Mourvedre is full of earthy, warm notes of forest floor, black tea leaves, cedar, black cherry, sandalwood, and a hint of vanilla bean. The palate is bright, and fruit driven on the front with earth tones, balanced tannins, ground coffee and crushed spices on the mid-palate and finish. A beautiful wine to pair with seared and butter basted steak with thick roasted potatoes, or with pasta al sugo. Delicious now and it will age quite well for the next few years.

Vineyard Notes
2019 was a quite warm and a very nice vintage here in Dry Creek Valley. We had a semi-wet winter and a delayed budbreak because of cooler spring temperatures. The growing season was hot but without any huge heat spikes. The delayed budbreak encouraged longer hang time once harvest came around and the flavor development that occurred during that time really shows in the finished wines. They are intense and beautiful.
Production Notes
Our Morningsong Mourvèdre was sorted both in the vineyard and in the winery before being destemmed and left whole berry and put into an open top fermenter. The grapes were cold soaked for 3 days to extract the maximum amount of flavor, then fermented on the skins for 10 days. After being gently pressed off the skins, the wine was moved to used oak barrels where it completed malolactic fermentation. This wine was kept sur lie and stirred every other week until just before bottling. This Mourvèdre was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
