Tasting Notes
This beautiful wine has aromas of dark berry fruits, baking spices, orange blossom and zest, and earth tones. The palate is full of dark fruit notes such as black plum and cassis with lots of well-integrated tannins plus hints of orange blossom. I always love this wine each year and I'm excited about the aging potential of this vintage. It will drink well now or for at least 5-7 years.
Vineyard Notes
2021 was a beautiful vintage. The winter was quite dry with far lower than average rainfalls but we had a few spring rains that helped us out. The growing season was warm but very even and without any adverse weather events. We picked slightly earlier than average. The flavors are intense and concentrated because of the very small crop this vintage.
Production Notes
This wine is a blend of equal parts of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre.
Winemaker Notes
Every year, our Tres is one of my favorite blends to put together. Each varietal is picked, fermented, and vinified separately and blended together only just before bottling. This allows each wine to evolve individually so they can lend a unique component to the blend.
