Vineyard Notes
2021 was a beautiful vintage. The winter was quite dry with far lower than average rainfalls but we had a few spring rains that helped us out. The growing season was warm but very even and without any adverse weather events. We picked slightly earlier than average but because of the very small crop this vintage, flavors are intense and concentrated.

Winemaker Notes
Our 2021 Mourvedre was made in two ways. The first lot was whole cluster carbonic fermented, where the clusters were wrapped in a bin with lots of dry ice and left to begin fermentation on their own without exposure to oxygen. After 5 days, the bin was unwrapped and foot treaded and finished with juice in contact with the skins and stems. After 12 total days, we pressed this wine directly to barrel and it aged for 16 months in neutral oak.

This comes from our estate property, Morningsong Vineyard. This block is a new planting and this was the first year of fruit from it. We planted this as our block closest to Dry Creek, which really heightens the microclimate and gives us a very Rhone Valley like Mourvedre.
