Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This is an absolutely delicious vintage of our Rosé de Tres. From the color to the aromatics to the refreshing mouthfeel and finish, I absolutely love this wine. The bright berry color is so inviting and from there, aromas of Satsuma orange, fresh picked garden strawberry, lemon zest and lemon oil and just a drop of ruby red grapefruit. The palate is filled with strawberry tones and lingering acidity. This is truly a pleasant wine to drink and enjoy and while I’m sure it will be great with food, it is definitely a wine that stands on its own.
Vineyard Notes
2020 was a vintage to remember. From early on in 2020, the vintage was quite warm. Bud break and set happened very smoothly and the crop size was considerably smaller after two large vintages. In the vineyard, all our varietals were concentrated in yields but delicious in flavors.
Winemaker Notes
This is our third vintage of Rosé de Tres. Breaking from our normal style of making pressed rosés, this one was made from a blend of saignée fractions from three of our Rhone wines: Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. After we picked each of these lots for red wine, we saignéed (drained juice from the tank to increase the ratio of skins to remaining juice to concentrate the final red wine) a small percentage from each. This saignée fraction was a beautiful, light, crisp rosé juice. We fermented each lot separately and combined after fermentation. This wine did not go through malolactic fermentation and only saw neutral oak barrels, which preserved the bright and delicate fruit. After 4 in barrel, we bottled.
Food Pairing Notes
This Rosé is perfect with steamed mussels and crusty French bread, or a nice beach with a bunch of friends.
