I am so happy to have a single bottling of Grenache once again! The color of this wine is delicate, beautiful and inviting. The aromas are of bright cherry, candied rose petal and orange blossom. Spices such as cardamom and all-spice lend a subtle complexity. The palate is filled with spices, hints of wet forest floor, Bing cherry and orange rind. It finishes clean and pretty with very dainty tannins and a lingering acidity.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
2016 finally brought much needed rain to Sonoma County, temporarily ending our drought woes. The water helped the vines immensely and we had a beautiful growing season from bloom to harvest. The crop size was about average. The year was clearly a standout producing beautiful flavors from this vintage.
Winemaker Notes
The Morningsong Vineyard Grenache was harvested first thing in the morning by hand. The grapes were sorted both in the vineyard and in the winery before being de-stemmed and left whole berry and put into a one ton bin. A saignee was done to concentrate the flavors in the must. The grapes were cold soaked for 3 days to extract the maximum amount of flavor, then inoculated and fermented on the skins for 9 days. After being gently pressed off the skins, the wine was moved to used oak barrels where it completed malolactic. This wine was kept surlies and stirred every other week until just before bottling. This Grenache was bottled unfined and unfiltered, giving it some delicacy and retaining the beautiful aromatics.
