Always one of my favorite wines to make and drink, this vintage is no exception. On the nose are notes of all-spice, clove, cardamom and cassis with juicy but subtle huckleberry tones. The front palate is full of black cherry with a touch of black pepper and gives way to dusty, rich tannins and a silky finish.

2015 was a very dry year here in Sonoma County. Yields were down because the vines were stressed due to a shortage of water but flavors were concentrated with the smaller crop size.

Winemaker Notes
crushed Syrah & Grenache on 9/15; crushed Mourvedre on 9/22/2015; 19% Grenache, 31% Syrah, 50% Mourvedre; The grapes for our Tres blend were picked, fermented and aged separately. This year, all the blocks were picked within a few weeks of each other. We picked each vineyard by hand, sorted by hand, then de-stemmed and gently crushed each lot. Each of the varietals was fermented in a stainless steel open top tank, cold soaked for 3-5 days then inoculated and punched down 2-3 times per day. After fermentation, the wines were put to neutral oak barrels and aged for 18 months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
