The 2009 Rockpile Cabernet Sauvignon is a wine to remember. From the red-black color in the glass, to the wafting aromas of leather, tobacco, and black cherry on the nose, this wine lives up to the appellation’s reputation. The richness on the palate is accompanied by bright blackberry and black cherry flavors. The tannins are bold yet velvety. It finishes with a good acidity. This is a huge wine that is meant to age, and will also pair well now with your favorite hearty meals.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
2009 was an ideal growing year. It was a warm and dry spring, followed by a moderate summer, which allowed for a long hang time.

Winemaker Notes
After harvesting the grapes in late September, they were hand sorted at the winery before being destemmed and left whole berry, and put into a fermentation tank. The grapes were cold soaked for four days before Rockpile yeast was added. They fermented until dryness, and were then gently pressed off the skins and put into barrels for 22 months. The wine was racked twice off its lees to allow more complexity to develop, and then bottled.
