January Amista Friends of the Month Newsletter!

Here at Amista, our Wine Club members are considered part of our Family.
These are club members that continually engage with and support the Amista Family. In addition to being featured in our monthly newsletter, Amista Friends of the Month receive additional benefits, like extra savings on wine, food pairings, and other treats during the month. We will be doing this each month and asking club members if they would like to participate, so keep an eye out in your inbox to see if you have been nominated!

This month we are featuring our Club members Heidi and Matt who are from Eureka, California.  Heidi and Matt have been a part of our Amista Family since 2010 and are members of our Circle of Friends Club. Below is their story!

Favorite Wine / Becoming Members:

Visiting wineries was a hobby of ours and after moving from Washington State to Northern California we decided to try new wineries each time we traveled from Eureka to the Bay Area for work. We never liked every wine we tasted at wineries and often had different preferences, so we never committed to a membership.

It was while trying out yet another Dry Creek winery in 2010, we stopped at Amista. We were immediately welcomed as if we were old friends, which, we were told was the meaning of the name, Amista. Letting them know we weren't big "white fans" didn't stop them from having us try the Chardonnay we both agreed it was "actually good". Each wine we tasted seemed to be another we both liked. When we tried the Zin we both immediately became "Zin fans" and the Syrah moved us over the edge from enjoyment to membership. Why wouldn't we become members of a winery where every wine we tried was one we liked.

A few years later, when we'd truly become dear friends, Cindy, the Wine Club Coordinator, pulled out a Rockpile she had found boxes of that had been sitting for years. She opened it for us to try...it immediately became our new favorite and turned into an addition to future tastings.

Favorite Memory:

In 2014 we started a "foodie group" with friends where we enjoy a themed four-course meal every other month. We rotate homes and courses with each couple featuring a course paired with a favorite drink. Amista wines are nearly always featured in at least one of the courses. One of our favorite memories was this past Christmas where our group served up a five-course meal made up of some of our favorite courses paired with Amista wines to a group of 16 community leaders. The first course was a hot crab dip and toasted crostini paired with the Amista Mataro. Second course was Lobster Corn Chowder paired with the Amista Sparkling Syrah. Third course was a butter lettuce, pomegranates, pecans and champagne soaked pears with manchego cheese served with the Amista Chardonnay. Fourth Course was the Rib Eye Steak with Potato Strata paired with the Amista Rockpile Cabernet. And finally, our final course was a Pavlova Dessert Bar with coffee, chocolate, caramel, hazelnut and pistachio flavored whipped creams and toppings of shaved chocolate, crushed toffee, pistachio and hazelnut toppings paired with the Amista Illusion.

We have brought many others to "taste" Amista wine with us and quite a few have become a part of the Amista Wine Family over the past 8 years. Here's to our friends...Amista!
