Becoming a Member and our Favorite Amista Memory:
Our relationship with Amista Vineyards began through our daughter Sara, who joined in 2012 after visiting the vineyard. When Sara received her Amista wine she began sharing some with us, and we immediately fell in love with the Zinfandel. After a couple years, we decided it was time to stop getting our favorite wine from Sara, and join to get our own wine from Amista. We joined the Circle of Friends Red only Club, and look forward to our shipment twice a year. In October 2017, we planned a trip to visit Amista for the fall dinner; however, we had to cancel due to the fires in the area. Two years later (this year), we rescheduled our trip for early November to visit with Sara and her fiance, Chris Ward, and the Kincade fire forced us to cancel again. We will eventually get to visit Amista, hopefully soon; however, we will pick a different time of year next time. Until then we will enjoy our Amista wines here in Maryland.
Favorite Amista Wine and Food Pairing:
For us, it is a perfect red which is the Zinfandel. It is definitely our favorite wine, and our go to with red meats, tomato pasta sauces, and any other time we just want to enjoy a great glass of red wine. Gail makes a fabulous Eggplant lasagna in the summer with homegrown eggplant and fresh tomato sauce that pairs very well with the Amista Zinfandel.
