October Amista Friends of the Month Newsletter!

Here at Amista, we take the time to honor our Wine Club members as each and every one continue to stay passionate about our wines.  We love to hear their stories of sharing with friends and family.

These are Club Members who we have special relationships with, and who visit us from near and far!  Once a month we feature Amista Friends of the Month in our monthly newsletter.  In accepting this invitation, they receive additional benefits... such as extra savings on wine, food pairings, and other treats during the month.  We do this every month, and reach out to Club Members asking if they would like to participate.  Keep an eye out in your inbox to see if you have been nominated by our Wine Club Coordinator!

For the month of October, we are featuring Emily who lives in Cranston, Rhode Island and have been visiting us since 2013!

We appreciate her continued passion and loyalty to our wines. Below is her story!

Becoming a Member:

The Sparkling Syrah became our favorite when we visited the valley in 2013, and also ties into how we became Amista Wine Club members. Our rental house was just down the driveway from Amista, very near to Mike and Vicky's house. That week proved to be one of the hottest on record, 100 degrees or more every day. We quickly adopted a routine of a late morning trip out to do wine tasting, followed by lunch in town, then we would return to the house to relax by the pool for the afternoon.  Of course, we needed a local beverage to enjoy by the pool, and the cool, crisp sparkling Syrah proved to be just the thing during such hot weather!  Each day, we would return to the house, change into our swimsuits, and trek down the driveway to the tasting room to stock up on fresh bottles of sparkling.

During that trip, one of the local winemakers gave us the advice to treat wine just like you would treat a puppy, always making sure not to leave it in a hot car.  We took this advice to heart, and the Sparkling Syrah quickly gained the nickname "Pink Puppy."  So, if you happen to meet us in the tasting room, and you hear us mention Pink Puppy, just know that we always give our wine the love and attention of an adored puppy.  We think Vicki and Mike, dog lovers that they are, would approve ;-)

Favorite Wine and Food Pairing:

We still often enjoy Sparkling Syrah on a hot day, especially when we're vacationing with our cousins from Georgia at our camp in Maine.  One of our favorite pairings is with a charcuterie plate; whatever assortment of meats and cheeses we have on hand always compliment the wine deliciously.
