Our 20 acre estate vineyard - we call it Morningsong Vineyards - is on the valley floor in the heart of Dry Creek Valley. Stretching from Dry Creek Road to the banks of Dry Creek, it is comprised of the loose, gravelly soils typical of the area, providing excellent drainage. Our proximity to the Russian River Valley means that the vineyards linger in the cool morning fog before the sun begins to warm them.
When we don't grow our own, we acquire grapes locally - in Dry Creek Valley and Rockpile - from our neighbors. We want to be able to walk the vineyards, taste the fruit and have a personal relationship with the people who grow the grapes.
Amista’s Estate Morningsong Vineyards
Our 12 acres of Chardonnay are on the front of the property and encircle our 1910 cottage. In addition to our un-oaked Chardonnay, we use these grapes for our Amista Sparkling Blanc de Blanc, our vintage Blanc de Blanc and our first sparkling blend, Fusión.
Amista Rhone Varietals
The vineyards at the back of the property surround our tasting room and include 5 acres of Syrah and an acre each of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Petite Sirah.
We make an Amista Syrah, Grenache, Petite Sirah and Tres (a GSM blend - Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre) and the Syrah is used in Ilusion, our port-style dessert wine. We also make three sparkling wines from our Rhone varieties, a Sparkling Syrah, a Sparkling Grenache and our first sparkling blend, Fusión.
Amista Wines from other Dry Creek Vineyards
Our Zinfandel comes from two small vineyard blocks at Saini Farms, less than a mile down the road from us. We have been working with the Saini's since 2005, and salute their integrity, attention to detail and passion for cultivating fine wine grapes.
Amista Cabernet Sauvignon
Our Cabernet Sauvignons are grown in a beautiful vineyard with rolling hills and its own pond, high above the Warm Springs Dam and Lake Sonoma. We call this vineyard Alta Presa (high dam).
Our 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon came from a select block of grapes on a beautiful vineyard on the southwest hillsides of Dry Creek. Block 19 was meticulously farmed and hand harvested just for us.
Amista Wines from Rockpile
Amista Rockpile Cabernet Sauvignon
The Gloeckner-Turner Ranch sits high above Lake Sonoma and commands breathtaking views. It includes an 8 acre Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard at an elevation of 1,300 feet. The Gloeckner-Turner ranch has been in the Gloeckner family for over 40 years and was formerly home to 1,300 head of sheep. Our Amista Rockpile Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the steep, rocky hillsides of this vineyard.
